What is an Ajrakh/Ajrak?
The word 'ajrak or ajrakh' has its origins in the Arabic language and comes from 'azrak' meaning 'blue' indicative of the indigo dye used. It is a unique form of dyeing and block printing is found mostly in Sindh, Pakistan and Ajrakhpur, Kutch district, India.
The Ajrakh is regarded as a symbol of pride, and it is among the few textiles that does not distinguish class or status; it is adorned by rich and poor alike.
